ABOUT ELIZABETH
Elizabeth received a Bachelor of Science degree in Integrated Public Relations from Central Michigan University, graduating cum laude in December 2005. With a keen interest in public affairs, she also pursued a minor in the subject, laying the foundation for her future career in law. After completing her undergraduate studies, Elizabeth commuted from her home in Allegan County to further her academic career at the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Grand Rapids, Michigan. There, she earned a Juris Doctor degree in January 2010.
Elizabeth's career started at the Berrien County Prosecutor's Office, where she served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney from 2010 to 2018. During this time, she honed her skills in prosecuting a wide range of criminal offenses, including sexual assault, theft, drug cases, assault, and domestic violence cases. Her dedication and expertise in the courtroom did not go unnoticed, as she also contributed to appellate briefs and various other tasks, solidifying her reputation as a thorough and reliable legal professional.
In 2018, Elizabeth returned home to take on a new challenge in the Allegan County Prosecutor's Office as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, where she continues to serve to this day. In this role, Elizabeth has taken on even more complex and high-stakes cases, including homicide, criminal sexual conduct, torture, and other capital offenses. She has also played a crucial role in abuse and neglect matters, delinquency cases, mental commitments, and civil dangerous animal proceedings. Elizabeth not only excels in her legal duties but also shares her knowledge and experience by mentoring and training junior-level attorneys, further contributing to the development of the legal profession.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Elizabeth has been deeply involved in her community. She has dedicated her time and expertise to organizations such as Safe Harbor Children’s Advocacy Center and the Allegan County Coordinating Council on Domestic Violence. She also served as Treasurer, Vice President, President of the Allegan County Bar Association from January 2019 to January 2023, demonstrating her commitment to advancing the legal community and on the Fundraising Planning Committee for the Allegan County Legal Assistance Center.
Elizabeth's commitment to public service extends beyond the legal realm. She has been actively involved in the Child Death Review in Berrien County, served as the President of the Trinity Lutheran St. Joseph School Board and Church Council, and even found time to contribute as a math tutor.
Throughout her career, Elizabeth has received well-deserved recognition for her outstanding contributions. She was honored with the Thomas M. Cooley Leadership Achievement Award in 2009 and the Thomas M. Cooley Student Bar Association Distinguished Service Award in the same year. Elizabeth's tireless efforts in advocating for children earned her the prestigious Ray Hoffman Safe Harbor Child Advocate of the Year award in 2022.
Elizabeth has demonstrated unwavering dedication to her career and community. Her journey from Central Michigan University to becoming a respected prosecutor in Allegan County showcases her commitment to justice and her passion for making a positive difference in the lives of others.
She was born and raised in West Michigan and has two kids, Maisie and Lachlan.
